- To engage in undergraduate research, teaching and mentoring as a high-impact practice
- To foster retention and academic excellence amongst African American students
- To foster retention and professional development of Black faculty on the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ campus
- To increase the presence of African American faculty on the ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ campus
- To establish a network of African American faculty (TT and Lecturer); and
- To develop a community of scholars with a focus on developing research on pedagogy for teaching social justice across-disciplines.

The ÌÇÐÄÔ´´-HBCU Exchange Project will provide students an opportunity to work with faculty-mentors and practice both quantitative and qualitative research methods in a real-world environment, and in a cultural environment different than their own campus community. Activities will include mentoring by faculty and directed research by students of the cohort. The directed research topic is related to Communication and Marketing. The Exchange cohort will give public presentations (for example: lectures, talks, performances) in their counterparts’ campus community.
