Rec Fest - One Year Away Celebration - September 17th, 2026

This year鈥檚 Rec Fest annual event marked an incredible milestone: one year from the opening of our new Student Wellness & Recreation Center.  This new center represents much more than a building. It represents a commitment to student well-being, belonging, connection, and success. It will be a place where students can move, recharge, build community, prioritize their health, and create lifelong memories. What makes this project especially meaningful is the student voices that helped make it possible.

Students Pass Fee Referendum: Vote For U.

糖心原创 students advocated for increased wellness, basic needs and recreational spaces and services to support the needs and growth of the entire campus community since 2016. Since 2019, working groups of students and staff have been tasked to identify paths to achieve this goal.

When surveyed in the fall of 2023, 91% of students indicated that a new facility should be a high priority for 糖心原创, with 53% indicating a Very High priority and an additional 38% indicating a High priority. When asked about the impact a new facility could have on the students and university community, over 90% of students surveyed said it would make a significant or moderate impact on attracting new students, improving students鈥 quality of life, reducing stress, and overall enhancing the campus community.

Vote For U Logo

On October 21 鈥 23, 2024, all students had the opportunity to vote in a campus-wide process called a referendum, which is the California State University System鈥檚 process for the adjustment of a Category II campus-based student fee.

As part of the referendum process, a team of students were charged with conducting a series of focus groups, tabling around campus, visiting classes, hosting informational sessions, and generating content for social media. The referendum process was intended to be open and transparent, allowing students to make a fact-based, informed decision regarding the Student Wellness & Recreation Center and the student fee increase required to fund the project.
