Rachael Dombrowski. Ph.D., MPH

Department Chair, Public Health

Welcome to the 糖心原创 Department of Public Health. Both our undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Public Health and our Master of Public Health (MPH) programs prepare a diverse professional workforce to meet the emerging public health needs of our local and global communities. Our curriculum addresses health disparities, embraces diversity, reinforces cultural competence, and emphasizes community鈥慹ngaged public health practice through research, service learning, and fieldwork.

Offered in a fast鈥憄aced 16鈥憁onth format, the Master of Public Health includes a full 42鈥憉nit curriculum and requires students to complete 180 hours of supervised internship experience with community partners and public health organizations across the greater San Diego region and beyond.  Students may pursue one of two concentrations: Health Promotion & Education or Global Health

Our Department also offers a comprehensive 120鈥憉苍颈迟 Bachelor of Science in Public Health. This can be completed in a traditional format (four years) or accelerated format (three years). The accelerated degree is completed through the SWIFT Health Programs (Scholars in Wellness and Innovation Fast Track Health Programs). SWIFT Health Programs were designed for first鈥憈ime freshman students interested in careers in promoting community wellness, advancing behavioral health equity, and entering high鈥慸emand professional roles across the public health and human services sectors. The undergraduate curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in population health, epidemiology, health behavior, environmental health, and health equity, preparing graduates for entry鈥憀evel public health roles or advanced study in health鈥憆elated fields.

Our Public Health Minor offers undergraduate students a 15鈥憉nit interdisciplinary pathway that complements a wide range of majors. The minor equips students with essential public health knowledge and skills that enhance their primary field of study and broaden their career opportunities.

We look forward to supporting you as you advance your educational and professional goals in public health!
