Explores cultural and linguistic diversity as critical variables in educational equity for all students. Includes intensive theoretical and practical articulation of culture and cultural pluralism; educational issues of race, class, gender, language, ethnicity, sexual orientation and exceptionality; social, structural, programmatic and curricular issues; and effective teaching for diverse populations.

In-depth analysis of the process of leadership and ethics in organizations. Focuses on students鈥 ability to conceptualize, integrate, and apply diverse approaches to the leadership and motivation of people in organizations, and highlights the importance of ethical behavior by leaders and followers.

Provides foundational knowledge on public health communication, related theory, strategies, and application to planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health communication interventions. Explores the use of mass media and digital technology to influence diverse audiences and stakeholders. Emphasizes strategic community-based partnerships, cultural influences on messaging, and communication models that are responsive to context and situation of the public health-specific communication needs.

Introduction to the interaction between economics and politics in the international system, with emphasis on the global, national, and local impacts of international trade, economic development, and international finance. Explores the important roles played by states and non-state actors such as corporation and international organizations in global political economy.

Examines leadership skills and Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR). Focuses on foundational concepts of community engagement and participatory approaches applied to social determinants of health, health inequities, health promotion, community interventions, disease management, health services, and environmental health. Explores how researchers, practitioners, and community partners can work together to establish and maintain equitable partnerships to improve the health and well-being of communities.
