Your Early Start to College Success at ÌÇÐÄÔ´´
We’re so excited you’re joining us at ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ during the summer! If you’ve been selected to participate in Early Start, you’ll take a math or English course to hit the ground running for the fall semester. Think of it as your first step into college life.

What is Early Start?
The Early Start program is a summer opportunity for incoming ÌÇÐÄÔ´´ students to strengthen their skills in English or mathematics before the fall semester begins. Through this program, students can build confidence, earn course credit and make progress toward graduation while getting an early start on their college journey.
You’ve been placed into one of four placement categories using (like GPA, test scores, and high school coursework):

| Category 2 | Enroll in GE-level English/Written Communication and Math/Quantitative Reasoning | Enrollment not required |
| Category 3 | Enroll in GE-level English/Written Communication and Math/Quantitative Reasoning with support | Enrollment is recommended |
| Category 4 | Enroll in GE-level English/Written Communication and Math/Quantitative Reasoning with support | Enrollment is strongly recommended |
Your placement may also depend on your major. Students pursuing STEM+ or other math-intensive
fields may be placed into higher-level math courses. Below is a list of STEM+ and
algebra-intensive majors:

- Applied Physics (Applied Physics, Applied Electronics)
- Biochemistry
- Biotechnology
- Business Administration (Accountancy, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Business Management, Global Supply Chain Management, Management Information Systems, Management, Marketing)
- Chemistry (Chemistry, Science Education, Biochemistry)
- Computer Science (Computer Science, Computer Information Systems)
- Economics
- Engineering (Electrical, Software)
- Kinesiology (Physical Education, Applied Exercise Science, Pre-Physical Therapy, Health Science)
- Mathematics

3. Exclusive access to in instructional support, tutoring, and an opportunity to establish connections with peers, faculty and staff.

Who should participate?
If your placement category is:
- "Enroll with Support – Early Start is strongly recommended" means you should participate
- "Enroll with Support – Early Start is recommended" means participation is encouraged
