Join PEER for a 4-day, intensive, in-person PEER Field School!

The Professional development for Emerging Education Researchers (PEER) Institute supports scholars as they become education researchers and expand their research expertise. PEER focuses on Discipline-based Education Research, advancing both scholarship and teaching goals that are valued at all types of academic institutions.

At PEER, you will learn fundamental and applied research skills in a supportive and participatory research environment.

You will delve into research project development and best practices, engage with like-minded professionals, and gain invaluable insights into the world of educational research. Our expert facilitators will guide you through hands-on activities and collaborative discussions, helping you shape your project and engage your passion.

PEER enhances the professional growth of participants and changes career trajectories. Our comprehensive professional development covers project design, management, mentoring, communication, and understanding community values. This ‘full stack’ of activities builds your research abilities. No matter where you are in your education research journey, we’ll take you to the next step.

What's Included in Registration

Registration includes breakfast and lunch during all four days of the PEER Institute (January 11–14, 2027), as well as on-campus parking at ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´. Dinner, travel, and lodging are not included. Parking instructions will be provided to registered participants before the event.

Travel and Lodging

Traveling to ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´

The PEER Institute will take place at ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´, located at 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos, CA 92096. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation and lodging to campus.

For participants traveling by air, we recommend two airports:

  • San Diego International Airport (SAN): Approximately 40 miles south of campus. This is the best option for most travelers, with a wide range of domestic flights.

  • McClellan-Palomar Airport (CLD), Carlsbad: A smaller airport closer to campus, with more limited flight options.

Nearby Lodging

Several hotels are located within a few miles of ÌÇÐÄÔ­´´. Suggested accommodations include:

  •  â€“ 123 E. Carmel Street, San Marcos. Approximately 0.5 miles from campus.

  •  â€“ 227 W. San Marcos Boulevard, San Marcos. Conveniently located near campus.

  • – 1245 Los Vallecitos Boulevard, San Marcos. Approximately 3 miles from campus, offering suites with kitchen facilities.
