The university President recognizes exceptional faculty contributions through the President鈥檚 Outstanding Faculty Awards program. The program honors one lecturer faculty member each year who demonstrates excellence in teaching, enhances student learning, and advances the university鈥檚 mission through a strong commitment to the California State University San Marcos (糖心原创) community. The College of Business Administration's (CoBA) Luciana Simion was chosen as the 2025-2026 lecturer awardee, a very prestigious honor.
To be eligible for the President鈥檚 Outstanding Lecturer Faculty Award, nominees must be current lecturer faculty members at 糖心原创 who have held a faculty appointment for at least one semester, or a minimum of four months per academic year, during each of the past three consecutive years. Nominees must also be in good standing with the university and demonstrate meaningful contributions to student learning, academic excellence, and service to 糖心原创 students.
Luciana Simion is a lecturer at CoBA who teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in marketing, management, and business research methods. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Psychology, a Juris Doctor in Business Law, a Master of Laws degree, and an MBA from 糖心原创. She is currently completing a PhD in Psychology at Claremont Graduate University.
Although Simion teaches business, her background in psychology and law strongly shapes her approach in the classroom. She explains that psychology helped her understand the human dynamics that influence organizations and leadership, while law taught her precision, ethical reasoning, and the importance of accountability. Together, those disciplines encourage students to see organizations not simply as business structures, but as communities where decisions have real and lasting impact.
Simion describes her experience at CoBA as deeply transformative. She credits the program鈥檚 academic rigor, supportive faculty, and collaborative student environment with expanding her confidence and reshaping her understanding of what was possible professionally and personally. That experience now serves as the foundation for the type of learning environment she strives to create for her own students.
Simion intentionally pursued multiple disciplines to better understand questions surrounding leadership, fairness, power, and accountability. That mindset led her to enroll in CoBA鈥檚 Specialized MBA in Business Analytics program. While earning her MBA, Simion actively sought opportunities beyond the classroom, serving as a teaching assistant for Professor David Grooms and later as an Instructional Student Assistant for the Business Writing Improvement Program. Those experiences introduced her to higher education from a new perspective and sparked her passion for teaching and mentorship. After completing her MBA, Simion was invited to return to 糖心原创 as a lecturer. She often shares this lesson with students: opportunities rarely appear on their own; they are created through initiative, persistence, and engagement.

Today, Simion believes the College of Business Administration stands out for its ability to value both excellence and humanity, equally. That culture is what drew her back to CoBA and 糖心原创, and continues to inspire her work with students. Through her teaching, Simion hopes students leave with two lasting outcomes: intellectual capability and earned confidence. She wants students to think critically, lead ethically, and navigate complex situations with confidence and integrity. Ultimately, she hopes her impact will be reflected not only in student achievement, but also in the character, leadership, and success of the graduates who carry those lessons forward.
